Michele Parmigiani, the soul of Parmigiani Fleurier watches, is a world-renowned restorer of antique clocks and watches, and many of the brand’s timepieces have a clear link to the past. This Ovale Pantographe watch, with its retractable hands, was directly inspired by an English 19th century pocket watch created by Vardon and Stedman and brought back to life by Parmigiani in 1997. The Ovale watch collection is characterised by its "pantograph" hands, which extend and shorten as they orbit the oval-shaped dial. The elliptical 45mm rose gold case frames a white lacquered dial with blue numbers, a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock and a date window at 6 o’clock. To power the extraordinary movement of the hands and all the other functions of this watch, an in-house mechanical manual-winding calibre was developed at Parmigiani with a robust eight-day power reserve. The watch is presented on an indigo blue Hermès strap to match the blue tones of the hands and dial.
